The creations of Egyptian architect and designer Tarek Shamma have been given new life and significance inside the opulent Renaissance walls of the 14th century monastery of Certosa di San Giacomo.
Shamma, one of three designers chosen for Gucci’s Artists in Flux exhibition in Capri, displayed his MinaMina tables. Shamma’s work includes designs for opulent boats, boutiques for Christian Louboutin, and residential constructions. Shamma creates one-of-a-kind items that are fully handmade in Cairo out of a variety of materials, such as travertine stone pillars, alabaster, rattan, and porcelain majolica with a faience glaze.
