Cairo Celebrates Mohamed Khan’s Enduring Legacy!
The Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo hosted “Mohamed Khan: Ten Years of Presence (2016–2026),” a special tribute marking a decade since the acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker’s passing.
The event brought together a distinguished group of filmmakers, cinematographers, composers, critics and artists, including Saeed Shimi, Ahmed Rashwan, Tamer Karawan, Ali Idris, Mahmoud Abdel Shakour, Zein El Abedeen Fouad and Basma Yasser, among many others.
Organised in collaboration with the Hathor Association for Culture and Arts and the Film Society, the evening celebrated Khan’s lasting impact on Egyptian cinema. The programme concluded with a screening of Al-Bateekha (The Watermelon), Khan’s first professional short film, photographed by Saeed Shimi and edited by the late Ahmed Metwally.
