Award-winning Egyptian cinematographer Mostafa El Kashef makes history as the first Egyptian DOP to attend the Cannes Film Festival for four consecutive years (May 12–23), solidifying his position as a leading creative force in the region.

In 2026, he returns with ‘BEN’IMANA’, directed by Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo, premiering in the Un Certain Regard section. The film is set in post-genocide Rwanda (2012) and explores themes of justice and reconciliation.

El Kashef’s Cannes journey began in 2023 with ‘I PROMISE YOU PARADISE’ by Morad Mostafa, which won major awards and earned him global recognition. He followed with ‘THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE’ (2024) by Mo Harawe, and ‘AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY’ (2025), marking Egypt’s return to Un Certain Regard after nearly a decade.

Across these works, El Kashef has built a strong international reputation, with multiple Best Cinematography awards and a growing presence at top global festivals.
