At the 97th Academy Awards held yesterday “No Other Land,” a documentary chronicling the struggles of Palestinians facing displacement in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, received the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. The film is a collaboration between Palestinian journalist and activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham.

In his acceptance speech, Adra, who recently became a father, expressed his hope that his daughter would not endure the same hardships he has faced, including fears of violence, home demolitions, and forcible displacements. He called on the international community to take decisive action to end the “ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.”
Abraham highlighted the disparities between their lives, noting that while he lives freely under civilian law, Adra is subjected to military laws that adversely affect his life. He advocated for a political solution that ensures national rights for both Israelis and Palestinians, criticizing U.S. foreign policy for hindering this path.

“No Other Land” documents the eviction of rural Palestinian communities to create a military training area, offering a poignant insight into the ongoing conflict and the human stories within it. ‘No Other Land’ Directors Use Oscar Speech to Call on World ‘to Stop the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestinian People’
